Beverly Ann (Cordon) Hill, 82, passed away on November 1, 2009, at Portneuf Medical Center. She was born October 13, 1927, in Boise, Idaho, to Alfred Call and Rose Gilchrist Cordon. She was the youngest of five children. Beverly moved with her family to Pocatello in 1932. She attended Pocatello schools, graduating from Pocatello High School in 1945. She attended the University of Idaho-Southern Branch where she met Calvin W. Hill. They married in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple in August 1947. In September 1947, they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where they enrolled in the University of Utah. She graduated in the class of 1950, with a bachelor of science degree in education. After moving to Provo she attended graduate school of Brigham Young University. After rearing her family, she taught school for 23 years in the Pocatello School District. She taught fifth grade and enjoyed teaching her students of American history and our precious heritage as U.S. citizens. She was known as a communicator, listener, and motivator to the many students who passed through her class. She was active in various organizations: AAUW, Alpha Delta Kappa (teachers' honorary education association), education association, and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed music, sewing, needlework, gardening and decorating her homes. She especially enjoyed traveling, both in the U.S. and foreign countries. She lived in Pocatello, Salt Lake City, Provo, Denver, until retiring in Pocatello and Island Park. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served faithfully in many callings. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Calvin; and four children, two daughters, Connie (Gene) Ransom of Island Park, Idaho, and Holly (Kevin) Wellard of Layton, Utah; two sons, Gregory C. (Jeanne) Hill of Centennial, Colorado, and Mitchell C. (Julie) Hill of Coto de Caza, California. Beverly is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Julie Robinson of Boise, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and one grandson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Cedar Hills LDS Ward, 5425 Bannock Hwy., with Bishop John Giraud officiating. The family will receive friends at Colonial Funeral Home on Friday, November 6, 2009, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and again at the church one hour prior to services Saturday. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. At Beverly's request, in lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Perpetual Education Fund (PEF) of the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints.
