Beverley Jean Simnitt Judkins, 78, returned home to her Heavenly Father on March 30th, 2024, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. She passed peacefully in her home with her loving children by her side.
Beverley was born September 17th, 1945, in Rupert, Idaho. Her family moved several times during her childhood due to her father’s profession and she lived for a time in California and Illinois before settling back in Burley, Idaho. She graduated from Burley High School in 1963. She was active in many activities and clubs. These included the “Stepperettes” marching club, and the drama club where she was cast in many leading roles. She also played volleyball, basketball and was on the track team. She was a faithful member her entire life of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She met Arland Jay Olson and the two were married on August 21st, 1962, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they raised 4 children: Jeanne Marie, Jarrod Raymond, Robyn Rosella and Crystal Dawn. They divorced in 1994. In time she eventually met Thomas James “Jim” Judkins, and they were married on March 19th, 2005, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had many adventures together and loved one another very much. She missed him dearly ever since his passing in February 2017. He made her laugh every day.
Beverley was an exceptional artist, cake decorator and homemaker. She loved to sing, was an avid reader, enjoyed poetry and loved to journal. She enjoyed being outdoors either planting flowers in her garden or camping in the mountains. She had an immense love for her family and taught them Gospel principles. She was an example of how to live a righteous life and was a faithful servant to her Heavenly Father. She served in many different capacities in her church and held various callings. Her greatest calling and role in life was that of “Mother”.
She is survived by her 4 children, Jeanne Olson, Jarrod (Nicola) Olson, Robyn Powell & Crystal (Rich) Innes and stepdaughter, Shauna Dee Anderson. She was proud to be a grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren. She was also a great-grandmother to 21 great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest pride and joy and her expressions of love confirmed to them how much they meant to her. She never forgot a birthday and had them all memorized. Her grandchildren were always excited to spend time with their dear “Grandma”/ “Nana”/ “Mamie”.
She was preceded in death by her beloved Jim; parents, Pearley Amos “Jack” Simnitt and Rosella Hardy Simnitt; sister, Darlene Pearl Simnitt; brothers, Richard Duane Simnitt, Robert Joseph “Bob” Simnitt and Loren Vincent Simnitt; half siblings Wendell Simnitt, Jack Simnitt and Patricia Crawford; stepson, Brad Judkins and sister-in-law Margo Heer.
