Beulah Alice Billingsley Bloxham of Pocatello, Idaho died peacefully in her sleep at her home on March 24, 2020.
Beulah was born to William and Lou Billingsley in Beaumont Texas on July 17, 1928, the youngest of three daughters. Beulah's mother died when she was 5, and the family relocated to San Francisco, where Uncle Fred and Aunt Mae joined the family to help raise the 3 girls while their father, Bill, was traveling the US as a pharmaceutical salesman.
A favorite story Mom would tell was of her father visiting a small drugstore and asking for a Dr. Pepper. The clerk replied, "sorry, we don't have a Dr. Pepper here", and all her father wanted was a soft drink! Mom met a handsome sailor from Idaho at a church dance in San Francisco, and the boy from Downey knew a good thing when he saw one. Beulah married that farm boy, Richard Gail (Ben) Bloxham in San Francisco on May 11, 1946, and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple 3 months later.
Beulah and Dick moved to Pocatello, where Dick graduated from Idaho State University's School of Pharmacy, and began their adventure in Utah, Oregon, Utah, and finally Idaho. Our mother was the shining example of what motherhood really meant. She loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, and her church. There was never a harsh word that came from her mouth, in spite of the 6 boys and 2 girls that comprised the family. She was loved by all who knew her, and will be equally missed. We know she is in a better place, and joined with loved ones who passed before.
She warned me about including her love for the Utah Jazz in her obituary, but along with BYU, she truly did enjoy watching them both, and everyone knew it.
Beulah was predeceased by her husband, Richard Gail Bloxham, a baby daughter, a great grandson, a great granddaughter, and a daughter in law (Holli). She is survived by her 8 children, Rick (Becky) Twin Falls, Ron (Jane) Challis, Bob (Kate) Pocatello, Mike, Twin Falls, Denny (Mona) Pocatello, Dave (Karyn) Pocatello, Susan (Scott) Rupert, and Nancy (Greg) Hazelton, as well as 29 grandchildren and 88 great-grandchildren. There will be a private family ceremony on April 1 at the cemetery in Downey. For those wishing to make donations, please choose a charitable organization in Beulah's memory.
A memorial service will be held in July. Details about the service will be posted here as they become available.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
