Betty Mae Asper Stratten, 86, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2016 in Pocatello, Idaho with family by her side.
Betty was born in Idaho Falls to Orson E. Asper and Evelene Geisler Asper. She was the youngest of four children, Claude, Evelyn and Fern, all of whom preceded her in death.
In 1963, she was married to Wilfred Stratten. They spent several years moving with the military to Alaska, California and back to Idaho. They were married 44 years until Wilfred passed away in 2007.
Betty began her teaching career in 1960 in American Falls, Idaho. She taught elementary school for over 30 years. She loved children and enjoyed everyone visiting her, especially if they brought their kids to visit.
She enjoyed sewing her clothing, raising a garden, and preserving the harvest of the garden. Their yard was filled with beautiful flowers and fruit trees. She was a very hard worker, enjoyed being active and living a healthy lifestyle.
The family appreciates the attentive care and kindness shown to her by Dr. Lavonne Mills and the aides with Home Helpers. Thanks to all friends and family who helped make her life easier and happier.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2016 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow services on Tuesday at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery in Menan, Idaho. Condolences may be sent to the family online at wilksfuneralhome.com.
