POCATELLO-Betty Jo Long, 87, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010 at a local hospital from natural causes. Family and friends were at her side when she passed. Betty was born on May 27, 1923, at Aberdeen, Idaho, the daughter of Larry Sloan and Frances Leona (Rouse) Davis. She was raised in Pocatello. Then moved to Mackey, Idaho in 1936. She married Mark V Long, on May 29, 1943 in Mackey, Idaho. They moved to Chubbuck , Idaho in 1946, where she has resided since. When the family was young they showed horses at the Snake River Valley, Gate City Horse shows and Eastern Idaho State Fair. Betty didn't perform in the arena, but was "the groom" responsible for preparing costumes to braiding manes and tails. She was a den mother of many boys in the Boy Scouts in the Chubbuck area. She was a member of the Cubbuck 8th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She will be missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered as a very loving and warm Mother, Grandma and friend. Her grandchildren meant everything to her. Survivors are: Larry G. (Elaine) Long of Vancouver, WA; Lorna G. (Gary) Hansen of American Fall, ID; Linda G. Schmidt of Boise, Idaho; & Lorrie G. Moss of Pocatello, ID; 18 grandchildren and 35 great grand children. She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Mark; a son, Gary Lynn Long; her sisters, Alice Elaine Davis and Iris L. Heckman as well as two grandchildren, Travis Allen Long and Heidi Dawn Hansen. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chubbuck LDS Stake Center located at 450 James Ave. in Chubbuck.
