Betty Darlene Beck passed with her loving sisters by her side on December 10th, 2024.
Betty was born on November 22, 1957 in Pocatello, Idaho to Glenn and Mickey Van Sickle. Raised in Pocatello, she was the youngest of five children. Graduating from Pocatello High School in 1976, she was very active in the drama club, where she was particularly known for her role as Imogene in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.
On June 2nd, 1984 in Pocatello, Idaho, she married the love of her life, Michael J Beck (Mikey). They shared devotion and endless love in their home for over 35 years. Mike and Betty had two children, Daniel Eugene Beck and Phoebe Beck. Unfortunately, they were both needed in heaven, before reaching us on Earth. The two shared many amazing adventures, including camping, ziplining, skydiving and swimming with dolphins. She shared her love and talent for arts and crafts with family and friends, especially the little ones.
Betty accepted Jesus into her heart as her lord and savior in 1981. Later, she fully committed her life to the lord and was baptized on August 21st, 1988. She spent several years as a Sunday school teacher sharing her love of Jesus with all of the children of the church, all of whom she loved as her own. Betty prayed daily for her loved ones to accept the Lord in their lives so she could spend eternity with them.
She took on a motherly role to all of the children that came into her life. From nieces and nephews to Sunday school children and foster children.
Betty was a successful business owner of Ma and Pa’s Deli for several years until her return to college. She graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. Having found her true passion, she helped the children in Child Protective Services all across Southeastern Idaho for as long as her health allowed. The connections she made with the children extended beyond her standard duties as a Social Worker, as the relationships she built through her work lasted throughout the years.
She fought a long, hard battle with cancer that would have turned many bitter and resentful, but Betty chose joy every single day.
Betty is survived by sister Florence (Tim) Burwell of Pocatello, Idaho, sister Glenda (Garth) Herbst of Blackfoot, Idaho, brother Jim (Ruby) Van Sickle of Pocatello, Idaho, brother Leo (Mary) Van Sickle of American Falls, Idaho, sister Connie Greening of Maryland, Godchildren Andrena Field, Dena (Shawn) Steel, Jesse (Ann) Guerrero and Lindy Guerrero, Grandson Travis Field of Pocatello, Idaho, many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and inlaws.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Mike Beck, two children Daniel Eugene Beck and Phoebe Beck, parents Glenn and Mickey Van Sickle.
Our Betty Boop will be greatly missed.
