Berta Sotelo Jaramillo

Berta Sotelo, 62, of Pocatello, ID. Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend, passed away on February 5, 2019 at Portneuf Medical Center from a terminal illness.

She was born August 8, 1956 to Antonio Santos Sotelo and Ventura Schroeder in McAllen, Texas. When she was around six years old, her family moved to Idaho and she grew up here on her family ranch. She enjoyed helping her mother with the cooking, taking care of the animals and riding horses. She graduated from Marsh Valley High School and at the age of 18 had her first son. By the age of 30 Berta had five children: 3 sons and 2 daughters.

A mother and care giver first, Berta also worked for a company called Lamb Weston until, due to a poor work environment, she fell from a catwalk. After her recovery, she attended college at Idaho State University and worked as an assistant manager at the Roadway Inn until her retirement in late 2018 in Chubbuck, ID.

She is survived by her children, Bryan, married to Tanya J. Smith, Ernesto, Renee, and Sonia; her grandchildren, Sammy, Shanese, Isaiah, Marissa and Angelina; her sister Juanita, two nephews, two nieces and other relatives.

Berta was preceded in death by her niece Elisa Jaramillo, her son Jose M Jaramillo, and her sister Diana Oblea.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am. Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Rd, Chubbuck, ID.
