Barbara Helen Hedges

Our sweet Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend passed away on March 1, 2016 in her Pocatello, Idaho home from natural causes. How grateful we are that families will be together forever. What absolute joy she must be experiencing right now as she reunites with her husband, John, her parents Morgan Ellis and Sarah Lucy Boden, brothers David Boden and Ellis (Eva) Boden and grandchildren Jeff Hedges and Sarah Hedges.

Barbara Helen Boden Hedges was born March 28, 1922 in Hazelton, Idaho. She graduated from Burley High School in 1939 and Albion State Normal School in 1942 earning a teaching certificate. Also, Barbara became a master teacher through her example, generosity, and love. She was crowned the 1941 Cassia County Rodeo Queen. Barbara married John Hedges of Boise, Idaho. The example of their happy and loving marriage is a tremendous gift to their posterity. We have all been blessed to witness a "first hand" love story throughout our lives. She especially enjoyed painting, skiing with John and their posterity, baking, gardening, and vacations with family at their cabin in McCall, Idaho. She was an accomplished dancer and choreographer who shared her talents teaching and preparing LDS youth for local and Salt Lake church wide dance festivals.

She lived an exemplary life showing immense love to everyone she came in contact with. Barbara became like an adoptive mother to her many relatives, family friends, and even her Sunday school class members. Family vacation and outings included family friends and relatives. She is missed greatly by all, especially her children; Sid and Marcia Hedges of Pocatello, Idaho, Fred and Diane Hedges of Boise, Idaho, David and Julie Hedges of Almo, Idaho, Curt and Mitzi Hedges of Gilbert, Arizona, Sara and Lance Soderquist of Pocatello, Idaho, and 96 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Robert (Joan) Watson of Twin Falls, ID and sister-in-law, Colleen Boden of Conner Creek, ID. We will honor her memory by following her Christ-like example of love, charity, compassion, kindness, and patience.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M., March 5, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel located at 2000 S. Fairway Drive, Pocatello, Idaho. Friends may meet the family Friday March 4, 2016 from 7 to 9 P.M. at Wilks Funeral Home located at 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, Idaho.
