Austin (Ray) Henson, 83, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014 at home in the care of his loving family. Ray was born on April 28, 1931 to James and Arzella (Matheny) Henson in Ardeola, Missouri. Ray was one of 15 children. The family moved to Gooding, Idaho when he was 10. At 19, Ray was drafted into the Army and was sent to Germany where he spent the next two years. Upon discharge from the military, Ray returned to Idaho. Ray met the love of his life Beverly (Sortor) in January of 1959 and they were married on May 30, 1959. They were blessed with four children; Darla, James, Danny, and Kimberly. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage, facing lifes joys and heartaches together. Ray worked at various farms prior to and after his military service. In 1958, he began working for Simplot and continued there for 38 years. He retired from Simplot in 1996. Ray loved fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors. He was an avid reader and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ray is survived by his wife, Beverly; son James (Robin) Henson and their children, Jaime and Ray, son Danny (Lisa) Henson and their son, Jesse Camphouse, daughter Kimberly (Tony) Stoddard, and her children, Ashley, Jordyn, Cassidy, Dylan, and Gage; his oldest grandson Jayson Corpus, and 5 great- grandchildren. Ray is preceded in death by his daughter Darla Corpus, his parents, and his 14 brothers and sisters. The family would like to thank Encompass Hospice for the outstanding care they provided to Ray prior to his death. Specifically Royanna Smith and David Moore who built relationships with the family that will never be forgotten. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 208-233-1500.
