Arnold Walter Haag

March 9, 1943 — December 22, 2020

Arnold Walter Haag - Pocatello, Idaho - Passed away peacefully on December 22, 2020 from a sudden non-Covid related illness.

Arnie was born in Kilmanagh, Michigan on March 9, 1943 to Walter Haag and Julia Krupnick. He was raised on a farm in Sebewaing, Michigan. He remembered being two years old, working in the fields and carrying gladiolas from their farm to churches in their area. That work ethic was part of who he was.

He attended Owendale High School in Owendale, Michigan. Following graduation, he was proud to serve in the US Navy. After that, he began his career as a bridge inspector. He often talked about the huge structures he built in New York. He absolutely loved heights, the higher the better. By fate, he took a job in Montana and eventually made his way to Pocatello.

When he met the love of his life, Lurlene Frey, it was a whirlwind relationship. They both knew once they laid eyes on each other, that they were going to be together forever. He proposed to her two hours after they met. They began building their life together on Henderson Lane. His lifes mission was to make it the most beautiful home on the street. He worked tirelessly in their yard. Last summer in particular was the most beautiful it had ever been - so many gorgeous flowers. Mom LOVES flowers so flowers she got. He was very proud of the paint job he completed two years ago. He painted their entire house by himself, at 75, in the summer! He was a handsome man that took great pride in his appearance. He was always dressed nicely and his hair was impeccable. Mom made sure to comb his hair nicely before he went to heaven. He even had an acting portfolio and did some small acting jobs. His most famous claim to fame was when he starred in the Discovery Channel series The New Detectives about elderly couple Leo and Mary Downard from Ammon. He starred as Leo Downard.

At the time of his passing, he was working for Monsanto (Zackry) in Soda Springs where his nickname was "Father Time". He is now finally able to retire in paradise.

He is survived by his adoring wife, Lurlene; daughters LaNette (Ron) Shipley, Jeanette (Ron) Edwards and Christina Lords and his pride-in-joy granddaughter that he raised, Theresa Leann Lords; His grandchildren that adored their Papa: Constance, Shauna, Tiffani, Madison, Hunter, Jonathan, Jaycee, Dallas, Carson and Brooklyn; His great grandchildren: Sammy, Shanese, Isaiah, Marissa, and Canyon and was so excited to meet his two newest great-grandbabies in 2021 - in his words "More little Punkers to spoil". He is also survived by his sisters-in-law: Debi (Thom) Markey and Sandi (Jay) Lenker as well as brothers: Brian (Stacy), David (Gisela), Kent (Lorie) and Steve Haag and sisters: Rita (Dennis) Bartle, Connie Westbrook, Lucille (Richard) Welchner and Barbara Tahash.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Kenny and Darren Lords; his parents and in-laws Ralph and Verda Frey whom he truly adored, brothers Dean and Barney Haag, brother-in-law Barney Frey, and a nephew, Brandon Lenker, as well as his two beloved Granddaughters ShyAnn Marie Matkin and Adalynn James Bruderer.

At his request, cremation has taken place. Burial will be near his sons at MountainView Cemetery at a later date.
