Arden M Hansen, 88 of Pocatello, Idaho passed away peacefully July 2, 2015 surrounded by his family.
Arden was born to Clifford R Hansen and Sylvia Nelson on August 4, 1926 in Mantua, Utah. He was the 3rd of five children. He spent much of his childhood on the family farm working to raise hay, milk cows, and a few chickens.
Arden graduated from Box Elder High School in May of 1944 and then went into the Army where he served for two years. He served in Japan as a Military Police and was then assigned to the Philippines. After returning home in Nov. 1946, he married his childhood sweetheart, Faye Johnson on December 30, 1946 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Arden and Faye made their home in Mantua for about 4 years where they began their family. He worked as the dog catcher and grave digger while attending college at Utah State University where he graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.
After a few short moves to Center, Colorado and Everett, Washington, they made their way to Tyhee, Idaho where they built their home and settled with their family of a daughter, Saundra and two sons, Van and Nolan. Arden worked for the Fort Hall Bureau of Indian Affairs as a soil conservationist for 30 years. He made many lifelong friends in his work and was well liked and respected among his colleagues.
After retiring from his work in Fort Hall, Arden took up farming full time. He farmed grain, hay, cattle, and pigs. He was a hard worker and always taught his kids and grandkids the value of work.
Arden was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Gospel Doctrine teacher, Elders Quorum President, Scout Master, Ward Clerk and on the Stake High Council.
Arden enjoyed hunting with friends and family, white water rafting, church softball, US History and its related firearms, and especially his grandkids. They will each fondly remember one of his famous sayings to them, "I'll take a kiss." He will be missed by all!
Arden is survived by his wife, Faye J Hansen, daughter, Saundra (Jon) Fielding, sons, Van A (Lori) Hansen and Nolan M (Pam) Hansen. He is also survived by a brother, Doyle Willard Hansen, Mantua, Utah, 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Arden is preceded in death by a still-born daughter, parents, Clifford R and Sylvia Hansen, sister, Faye Halling, and brothers, Reed Clifford Hansen and Howard N Hansen all of Mantua.
The Hansen family would like to thank all those who so lovingly helped care for Arden during his illness and for their kindness and compassion to the family.
