Anthony Lewis Arambarri was born on August 16, 1951 in Hailey, Idaho to Lewis J. Arambarri and Betty M. Wier Arambarri. He passed away on September 8, 2021 in Pocatello, Idaho.
Tony attended school in Mountain Home where he graduated from high school in 1969. He attended the College of Idaho where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and later studied Library Science at the University of Washington, earning a Masters Degree. He opted to remain in his beloved Seattle for many years, working in hospitality and catering services. Eventually he went to work for Starbucks and was in management with that company, including time in Chicago expanding the Starbucks stores there. Tony returned to Pocatello and opened Main Street Coffee and News which he operated for many years. He appreciated his many friends and customers and welcomed community groups needing a safe, comfortable venue. He retired in 2016.
Tony was a voracious reader and a dedicated patron of the Marshall Public Library, favoring murder mysteries, biographies and history. Tony attended his beloved Trinity Episcopal Church in Pocatello, serving on the Alter Guild and Vestry and distributing meals for My Brother’s Table.
Tony especially enjoyed gathering with friends and family. He had a quick wit and a dry sense of humor. He was a beloved uncle to several generations of nieces and nephews. Many of the younger relatives were aspiring baristas and Tony obligingly tutored them in making hot chocolate and Italian sodas (extra whipped cream of course). He cared for and nurtured many cats over the years and could pick up any card game in a few hands.
Tony is survived by his siblings, Virgie (Dean), Pocatello; Nick (Alice), Coeur d’ Alene and John (Holly), Boise; along with many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ed and an infant brother.
An Eucharistic Burial Service will be held Saturday September 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church (248 N. Arthur Avenue). The family will gather for a memorial in Glenns Ferry later next spring. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to My Brothers Table c/o Trinity Episcopal Church, PO Box 1214, Pocatello, ID 83204.
