Alvaro Zazweta

February 19, 1921 — April 17, 2013

Alvaro ?Al? ?Pops? Zazweta passed away peacefully on Wed., Apr. 17, 2013 at home surrounded by family. He was born on February 19, 1921. He was the third child born to Donaciano & Josefa Zazweta in Firth, Idaho. While growing up in Firth Al began his love for hunting and fishing. Al has 4 sisters ? Juanita (Mike) Huerta, Rosie (Elmer) Stoker, Dellie (Dan) Saldana, Josie (Don) Lanway and one brother, Frank (Francis) Zazweta. On October 17, 1940, Al married the love of his life, Josephine Tafoya. Then on July 22, 1943, Al was enlisted in the United States Army. During this time, Al served his country as a proud Private First Class soldier and served in World War II with the service command unit as a marksman rifle M-1. During his time in the army Al received ribbons for American Theater of Operations, Asiatic Pacific Theater and also received medals for good conduct, AP 600-08 as well as the Victory Medal. After three years in the service Al was honorably discharged from the Army on April 30, 1946. After being discharged Al was reunited with his love and on August 5th, 1949 they began their family with the birth of the first of seven children; Adelita, Margaret, Rebecca, Renee, Josanna, Teddie and finally on October 6, 1962 Al and Josephine welcomed their only son, Alvaro Jr. Becoming a family man, Al started his career as a filter operator at J.R. Simplot of Pocatello. Al worked at Simplot for 33 years. Throughout his years, Al taught each of his children how to hunt and fish. The family would take annual fishing trips to Salmon and American Falls Reservoir. If he wasn?t hunting or fishing, you could find Al and Josephine enjoying the days sitting outside in their front yard with their children and grandchildren. Every so often, friends and extended family would stop by to say ?Hi,? but the ?hi? would stay with dinner and shots. If you knew Al, you knew he loved his shots of Vodka. If he was sick, he cured it with a shot. If you came to visit, it started off with a shot. Al had love for his family and friends, he especially loved spending time with each of his grandkids and great grandkids, by showing them love and teaching them how to hunt and fish. He always had a story to tell. A father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather, friend, Alvaro ?Al? ?Pops? Zazweta will sorely be missed by all who loved him. Al is survived by; his children, Adelita (Rogelio) Revelo, Maggie (George) Flores, Rebecca (Noe) Carrizoza, Renee (Tauapuaá) Pita, Jozanna Zazweta, Theadora (Teddie) Zazweta, Alvaro Zazweta Jr.; grandkids, Samantha (Todd) Edmo, Syrina (Todd) Tendoy, Robert Zazweta, Ronald (Pam) Diaz, George Flores Jr., Lance Flores, Damian Flores, Lee (Jennifer) Flores, Tiffany (John) Davis, April Carrizoza, Jason Zazweta, Ellcia Ramirez, Amber (Fredrico) Pacheco, Tony Pita, Ralph Espinoza Jr., Elizabeth Paz, Selina (Checo) Viallejo, Santiago Espinoza, Brittany Zazweta, Tasia Zazweta.
