Alton Bear, 76, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Portneuf Medical Center. He was born on September 13, 1938. He attended the school for the deaf and blind in Gooding, Idaho. He attended Boise State Jr. College for three years in Boise, Idaho. Alton worked in a potato cellar and for the Shoshone Bannock Tribes. He married and divorced. He was a member of the Native American Church. Alton loved going to Pow-Wows, Sundances, playing at the Casino and tribal ceremonies. He loved traveling. For several years he was a member of the Elderly Advisory Board and was always happy to take trips with them. The last trip was to see Rod Stewart in concert in LasVegas, Nevada. One trip he attended was with the Culture Department to Virginia City, Montana. He is survived by his son, Samson Bear of Pocatello, Idaho, and two grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Young White Bear; mother, Ella Eagle Bear; son, Alvin Bear; two brothers, Lee Bear, Young Bear; sisters, Rita First, Aveline Navo, Melissa Bear; nephews, Justin Bear and Alfred Bear. Family will meet with friends on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 starting at 10:00 AM at the Alton Bear residence on Reservation Rd. until the time of burial at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 19, 2015 in the Lincoln Creek Cemetery, Fort Hall, ID.
