Althea Cecelia Lavatta-Marsh

August 1, 1955 — September 27, 2010

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and best friend passed on September 27, 2010 with her family at her side. She was born August 1, 1955 in Pocatello, Idaho to Harry “Hiboy” and Cecelia (Osborne) LaVatta. She attended Fort Hall Elementary, Highland and Blackfoot High Schools and graduated from Pullman, Washington.

She was employed by the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes working as a PBX operator/receptionist for over 20 years. She had various appointments with the tribes in clerical work. She worked at the Fort Hall Trading Post as a snack bar attendant and was a police dispatcher for the Fort Hall Police Department as well as working for the B.I.A. in Fort Washakie, WY.

She enjoyed beading, sewing, and socializing with friends. She loved playing bingo, gambling and spending time with her soul mate Ronnie traveling to rodeos. He favorite joy was raising her children and her granddaughter.

She married Ronnie Marsh on January 19, 1979. Together they were blessed with two children; Tyrell and Treva Marsh, one step-son; Ron Marsh Jr., two granddaughters; Desiray Marsh and Sheva Marsh, and one great-granddaughter; Monica Aracely, all who reside in the Fort Hall area.

She is survived by her husband Ronnie and children, two sisters; Theresa (Arnold) Appeney and Saundra (Ken) Todd, two brothers; Rudy (Alene) Menta, all of Fort Hall, ID, and Floyd (Sandra) Osborne of Fort Washakie, WY, and numerous nephews, nieces and family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents Harry “Hiboy” and Cecelia LaVatta, two brothers; Kenneth Osborne and Roland Osborne and sister; Barbara Echeverria.

A viewing and life sketch was held at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Following her viewing her body was taken to her sister, Theresa Appeney's residence in Ross Fork where family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 29, and Thursday, September 30, until services at 10:30 a.m. She will then be taken to the Ballard/Osborne Family Cemetery in Ross Fork for burial.
