Alta Foote Mottishaw (95) peacefully passed away at her home on February 20, 2018.
Alta was born August 4, 1922 in Providence, Utah to James Roswell and Alva (Campbell) Foote. She attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School where she played the flute and loved marching in the band. Alta was active with the young people's groups in her church where she met the love of her life, Ronald Mottishaw.
Alta and Ronald were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 27, 1943. Ronald joined the US Navy and they moved to Camp Perry in California where Alta worked for the Red Cross while Ronald served in the Pacific theater. After the WWII they returned to Pocatello where they raised their family. They also lived in Logan while Ronald pursued his education at Utah State.
Alta worked in a variety of jobs, including Bannock Title Co., Carl Morgan Insurance Co., and retired from the Purchasing Department at ISU. In her later years she worked for ZCMI and the School of Hairstyling.
Alta was an accomplished seamstress. She also loved quilting, knitting, writing poetry, and reading. She and Ronald enjoyed rides with their kids identifying birds, plants, and animals.
She was a member of the LDS Church where she served faithfully in many callings, and especially enjoyed singing in ward choirs and the Singing Mothers.
Alta is survived by her children Paul "Pete" (Linda) Mottishaw, Sharon (Charles) Patterson, Jon (Cathy) Mottishaw, Ann (Todd) Eskelsen, Robin (Leslie) Mottishaw, and Kirk Mottishaw. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Richard "Dick" Foote; sisters, Lael Foote and Margene Tull; son, Ronald Grant Mottishaw; two granddaughters; and Ronald, her husband of 54 years. Alta had 18 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road. A viewing will be held prior to services starting at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow services in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be sent to the family online at wilksfuneralhome.com.
