After 91 years of hard work, many stories and lots of song, Allen W Smith has hung his hat and "gone fishing". Loved by many and adored by his grandchildren, his journey ended on April 5, 2018. He spent time at sea serving his country in the Coast Guard at the age of 18. He married Dorothy Hammer and had four children when her time here was done. He then married Rieka Steinfeld and had five more children. His working life started early and consisted of farming, building, truck driving and being a mechanic. When he wasn't working you could find him fishing and when hunting season came around you could bet he was in the hills. He loved spending time with his family and could always be heard sharing stories of the past and singing some sort of tune. He is survived by his wife, Rieka; his sons, Donnell Smith (Irene), Neldon Smith (Tammie), Troy Smith (Michelle), Joey Smith (Stephanie); his daughters, Alaina Pledger (Terry), Stephanie Smith, DaLee Shoemaker (Jason); 24 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; daughters, Leslie Smith and Deanna Bluemer; and granddaughter, Sandy Wilde. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 11 am at the LDS McCammon Stake Center, 403 W 16th St. McCammon, ID 83250, with a viewing for one hour prior. Burial will follow at the Norton Cemetery.
