Alfred Higley

Alfred "Ervin" Higley, 85, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020 in Chubbuck, Idaho. He was born on October 8, 1934 in Driggs, Idaho the son of Alfred Dewey and Grace Elizabeth (Humphrey) Higley. He attended Schools in Driggs and graduated with the class of 1953. He then attended Ricks College from Sept. 1953 to Dec. 1954. He then served a 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in the Spanish American Mission in Texas and New Mexico. Upon his return from his mission, he married Lucille Ruth Ashcraft in the Salt Lake Temple on Sept. 17, 1957. After the birth of their first son, they moved to Pocatello, ID where he worked for Simplot, attended and graduated from ISU. He worked for the US Postal Service and ended his career of 27 years as a Chemist at the INEL site for Westinghouse Electric. After he retired he spent his time working on rentals and working in church callings which included Stake, Ward & Temple callings. In Ervins early years he enjoyed fishing, he also liked traveling/vacationing especially when accompanied by his wife, children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; three sons, Michael Ervin Higley of Idaho Falls, ID, Brian John Higley of Longmont, CO, and Alfred Dean (Denise) Higley of Idaho Falls, ID; two daughters, Brenda Marie Van Sickle of Pocatello, ID, and Linda Grace (Darwin) Bagley of Riverton, UT; 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Grace Higley; and 14 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11 am at the LDS Century Chapel, 2271 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID (4th and Fredregill Rd.) with a viewing for one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at the Teton/Newdale Cemetery.
