ALCEODINE MARIE POOG PAHVITSE

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Tso, Alceodine Marie Pahvitse, 79, was called home by our Creator on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. She was born on June 17, 1941 to Charles and Sophronia Poog in Fort Hall, Idaho.

After the passing of her father when she was a year old, her mother remarried and she was raised by her step-father Park Poog. She was Lemhi Shoshone, and fluent speaker of the Shoshone Language. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Alceodine married Rudolph ‘Rudy' Pahvitse in 1959 and they had two children, Lori Rudine Pahvitse and Rondall Chase Pahvitse. She was later widowed. Alceodine always had a love of the outdoors, she enjoyed riding horses, raising cattle and a ranch lifestyle. She loved music, her favorite being old school rock n roll, and her favorite music artist was Elvis Presley. She also played the piano, guitar, and saxophone. She loved to sing, dance and travel with her family. She graduated from Pocatello High School and attended the University of New
Mexico. While young she worked in various office positions in Idaho and Utah. She became employed with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Fort Hall as a Loan Officer and retired from that position. She was then hired by the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes as the Tribal Credit and Loan Officer until her retirement in 2002. During her employment she was involved in the planning and development of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes' Trading Post Grocery Store, Clothes Horse Western Store, Post Office, Credit Union collaboration and other economic development planning.

After her retirement, Alceodine moved to Kernville California, and then Clovis California with her daughter and grandchildren where she resided for several years before moving back to Fort Hall. While in California she was involved in many activities at the Paiute Shoshone Cultural Center, made many friendships and enjoyed traveling to Powwows. Alceodine loved her grandchildren, and she loved attending their school functions, sporting events and supporting them in all that they did. When great-grandchildren were born she loved them all and enjoyed spending time with them in their school and sports functions.

Retirement gave her the time to pick up beadwork again and she beaded regalia for her family and friends. She made a fully beaded buckskin dress, moccasins, leggings and accessories for her daughter Lori for her 50th birthday. Her most recent projects were moccasins, coin purses and beaded belts and numerous other items that will always be treasured by family and friends. In her spare time, she loved to play Bingo and socialize with her friends and relatives at the Tribal Casino.
Alceodine was proceeded in death by her son Rondall Chase Pahvitse, sisters Virgilena LeClair Johnson and Roselinda Stone Poog Daugomah, brother Jonah Mink, parents Sophronia Shay Poog, Charles Poog, and Park
Poog, paternal grandparents John and Tivo Poog, and maternal grandparents Onda and Lily Shay. She was a decendant of Chief Tay-Tob-Bah, one of the chiefs who signed the Fort Bridger Treaty.
