Ada Kathryn Smith

Ada Kathryn Jones Smith passed away peacefully at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho, surrounded by her family, on Friday, August 24, 2018 after an extended period of declining health. Ada was born on April 29, 1926 in Chesterfield, Idaho. Her parents were Albert William Jones and Columbia Flint Call. The youngest of five children, she joined brothers, Marvin and Chet, and sisters, Sarah and Margaret. Ada married her high school classmate and sweetheart, Alan, in the Logan LDS Temple, on July 2, 1945. Alan was home on furlough, after completing basic training in California, prior to being shipped overseas to the Philippines, Korea, China, and ultimately Japan. While dad was serving in the Army, mother attended Ricks College, and received an associate degree, and a RN certificate. She spent many years working at the Caribou Memorial Hospital, in Soda Springs. In 1970, she returned to Idaho State University and obtained her BS Degree in Nursing. After her nursing career, which included employment in Pocatello and Boise, she retired and spent her time traveling the world with Alan. Ada was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ada is survived by her husband Alan, Chesterfield; son Terrell, Boise, son Kurttis (Suzan) McCammon; 5 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; a son Bradley Jones Smith; and a grandson Nolan Smith. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 12 Noon at the LDS Chesterfield Ward Building, 1001 E. Stalker Rd. (corner of Nipper and Stalker Roads) Chesterfield, ID 83217. Viewings will also be at the church on Thursday, August 30 from 6-8 pm as well as on Friday from 10:30-11:30 am prior to the services. Burial will follow at the Chesterfield Cemetery.
