Vera Lorraine Slack Denton was born in Pocatello Idaho on May 8, 1925 and passed away in Pocatello on March 12, 2013. She was born to Reubin Lavern Slack and Vera Ellen Wheeler and was the youngest of three sisters and one brother. She lived in many different places during her life including: California, Wyoming, Utah and places in Idaho including: Blackfoot, Pocatello and Inkom where she resided with her daughter.
She graduated from Inkom High School in May 1944, where she loved playing the Baritone and Trombone. She worked for many years for her dad at Slack Radiators, cleaning, packing and reparing radiators and batteries.
She married the love of her life, Richard J. Denton on September 21, 1961; he passed away October 21, 1965. Her two children, Brent Lavern Denton and Vera Lynn Denton Wigington, from a previous marriage were posthumously adopted by Richard in 1967. She had 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
After her husband passed away she went back to school to become an LPN in 1966. She worked for 17 years on the second floor of Bannock Memorial Hospital, where she took great joy in caring for the new born babies and their mothers. She had a love and passion to crochet. She made everyone doilies or afghans for Christmas. In later years she enjoyed crocheting hats that gave her great joy seeing her grandkids/great grandchildren wearing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings; sisters, Thelma E Steed (M.M.”Pete”), V. Lois Donich (Robert E), D. Maxine Cornwall (Stan); one brother Glenn L. “Bud” Slack (Viola); and son Brent Denton. She is survived by her daughter Lynn Wigington (Jim), daughter-in-law Sheila Denton, her grandchildren, Rick, Bob, Richelle, Nathan, Tashia, Shane, Brittany and many great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
