Vada Marlene Dye

Vada Marlene Dye, 68, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at home surrounded by family following a battle with liver disease.

She was born on November 16, 1941 in Pocatello. She was the daughter of Maurice and Vada Mangum Twitchell. Her father later died in World War II. In 1947 her mother married A. Stanley Merrill and Marlene became one of eight children. She attended schools in Pocatello, Idaho including Pocatello High School. Due to a severe illness that left Marlene deaf in one ear and behind in her studies, she did not graduate. Marlene eventually received her GED in 1991 and went on to take several college courses.

Marlene married Therral Dye on June 20, 1958 and became the mother of five children. Marlene worked at a variety of jobs at different times throughout her life, but mainly devoted herself to being a wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities. She loved the gospel and liked studying the scriptures. When younger she enjoyed the church music program and took pleasure in singing with the choir as well as solo performances.

Marlene enjoyed handicrafts including doll making, tole painting and quilting. She was an avid reader and collector of Disney movies. Many pets and animals were welcomed into her home over the years. Most recently her beloved Pomeranian, Sissy. Marlene also volunteered at the Pocatello Police Department for five wonderful years.

She was much loved and will be much missed.

She is survived by her husband, Therral; four children, Joanne Murray of Lake Wales, Florida, Robert Dye (Tammy) of Pocatello, Idaho, Ronald Dye of Kuna, Idaho and Jolene Schiers (John) of Boise, Idaho; ten grandchildren, Mari Guinn (Justin), Bobbi Wells (Jerry), Bryan Dye, Camille Schiers, Sierra Murray, Megan Schiers, Destrianna Dye, Marie LaChapelle, Cody Murray, Kate Schiers; one great-grandchild, Jaron Jacob Guinn; six siblings, Darlene Wilson, Maurice Twitchell (Eileen), Donna Faye Kholer (Dale), Stan Merrill (Sallye), Renae Anderson (Richard), Joylynn Willis (Rod); brother-in-law, Odell Dye; sister-in-law, Lola Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vada Merrill and Maurice Twitchell; her husband's parents Robert and Mary Dye; a sister, Linda LaFleur; a son, Roger Therral Dye; a grandchild, Edward Jacob Schaffer; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Justin Guinn and Riley Justin Guinn and sister-in-law, Evonne Damron.
