Norman Beck

December 1, 1939 — April 27, 2020

Norman Carl Beck, 80, of Pocatello, Idaho, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 27, 2020, at his home. Norm was born December 1, 1939 in Salmon, Idaho to James and Beulah (Hurley) Beck. He was one of ten siblings growing up and attending school in Salmon, Idaho. It was then that Norm was drafted by the US Army, serving his country from 1963 to 1969. Norm married Peggy Andrews (deceased) in 1974, and that union brought forth two children, Malinda Beck of Emmett, Idaho and Mary Beck of Tabernash, Colorado. Afterward in 1980, Norm married Christina Goodwin and from that union brought forth one child, Cherie Fain of Waterville, Washington. In 1994 Norm married Shirley Beck (deceased 2015) joining his family with hers. He gained 6 new children who looked up to him as their father: Deana Pitner of Pocatello, Idaho, Denise Ogden of Los Angeles California, Debbie (Jim) Marchetti of Pocatello, Idaho, Sheri Kemmerer of Challis, Idaho, Gary (Candy) Ogden of Challis, Idaho and his son-in-law, Glynn Osborne of Pocatello, Idaho; who spent his last years by his side. Norm had a total of 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Beck; his parents, James and Beulah Beck; nine siblings; and one daughter, Kathy Ogden Parrish. Norm was a man of many talents, his career included working at Champion Sawmill in Salmon & Potlatch, Idaho, then in Pocatello at Gateway West and X-treme Clean Car Wash. Among Norm's talents was growing the best tomatoes in Southeast Idaho, along with the most beautiful flowers that he sold at the Pocatello Farmer's Market for many years. The family will be having a celebration of life and a memorial bench permanently placed at the Pocatello Farmer's Market site at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations toward purchase of the memorial bench can be made at Idaho State University Federal Credit Union in care of Norman Beck.
