Neva Honeycutt Larsen Lish, 83, went home into the arms of our loving Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, following an extended illness. She was at her home surrounded by her family.
Neva was born on June 21st, 1938 in West Warren, Utah to Wilma and Owen Honeycutt, whom Wilma later divorced. When Neva was 3, her mother married Raymond A. Larsen who adopted Neva. It was a blended family. Now Neva had 3 new siblings: Eldon, Eva and Carl Lynn. Wilma and Raymond then had 2 more children: Dean and Virginia.
Neva was baptized in a pool at Lava Hot Springs when she was 8 years old. Neva grew up in McCammon and worked on the family farm then later moved to Inkom in 1953. She took on various jobs while attending school. She worked at Kelley’s Café and gas station. She was very active in school and had many friends. Her friends gave her the nickname of Neva Jean.
She married Arthur L. Lish, her high school sweetheart, on January 20th, 1955 at her parent's home then had a reception at the Hiway Inn in Inkom. Their marriage was later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on January 31st, 1970. They lived at the Premium Oil gas station, their business, in Blackrock before they moved to Pocatello, then they bought a little white house in Inkom, which later became Neva’s Shear Pleasure Beauty Salon after she attended Kinghorn Cosmetology school. They had 2 daughters, Malinda and Cindy. After they moved into the brick house in Inkom, they had their son, Dirk. They spent many long hours working and maintaining their business Premium Oil Co. service station in Pocatello on Jefferson and Poplar and made many friends.
Neva enjoyed family, friends, cooking, baking, crocheting, vacationing, gardening, canning, singing in the R.S. choir, visiting and visiting teaching, and doing hair. She loved flowers of every kind, especially wild flowers. She was truly a wonderful and devoted homemaker, mother and helpmeet to her husband. She was a compassionate and caring person. If she had an assignment, she accomplished it with flying colors.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in several callings including Relief Society President and Primary President. She loved to serve others with a smile.
After living in Inkom for 35 years, they bought a home in Chubbuck. They served an LDS service mission at Warm Springs near Moapa, NV. They worked hard and made many friends. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling, especially to their cabin in Island Park. They loved spending time with their children and grandchildren.
