Margo Clarice Heer

February 3, 1952 — July 10, 2023

Loving wife, devoted mother and friend, Margo Clarice Hanners (Simnitt) Heer, 71, of Pocatello returned to her Heavenly Father after a valiant fight with cancer on Monday, July 10, 2023. Margo was a gentle, loving follower of Jesus Christ and has always genuinely cared for others. She was born February 3, 1952, to Robert Keith Hanners and Helen Maughan (Hanners) Stoddart in Pocatello, Idaho and was an only child. She was her mother’s right hand, helping her around the house and with many projects. Margo graduated in 1970 from Skyline High School in Idaho Falls. She went on to study Family Living at BYU in Provo, Utah graduating with a Bachelors of Science, and then later received her certificate as a dental assistant which she used in supporting her family for many years.

On September 14, 1985, Margo was sealed to Robert “Bob” Joseph Simnitt in the Salt Lake City temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They had two children together–Sara Elizabeth and Erik Travis as well as Bob’s five boys Bobby, Bryan, David, Michael, and Nathan. After 19 years of a happy marriage, Bob passed away from a serious illness. Two years later she was blessed with another sweetheart when she met and married L. Brent Heer on September 2, 2006. From this marriage, Margo gained four more boys–Daniel, Jeremy, Scott, and Jordan.

Margo lived a very rich life with her family. She was a quintessential mother and grandmother to everyone that let her fulfill that role. Friends and family describe Margo as a caregiver, a constant, radiant, beautiful, giving, smart, humble, sincerely interested in others, tender, light-hearted, hardworking, gentle, and sweet to the core. Church and family were always priorities for Margo, and she loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Margo was a born caregiver and that extended into her church service. She served as a compassionate service leader and was a consistent ministering sister.

Margo has experienced much loss in her life, including her son, Erik, in a tragic accident, but through this hardship she looked forward with faith knowing that families are forever. She was someone who was keenly aware of how precious time is with our loved ones, and she showed that in everything she did. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband (Bob) and her son (Erik).

She is survived by her husband Brent Heer; daughter Sara Simnitt; stepsons Bobby Simnitt, Bryan Simnitt (Julie), David Simnitt (Emily), Mike Simnitt (Monica), Nathan Simnitt, Daniel Heer, Jeremy Heer (Amber), Scott Heer (Stephanie), Jordan Heer (Haily); sister-in-law Beverley Simnitt (Olson) Judkins; and brother-in-law Roger F. Heer.

Margo was a precious soul. She was selfless, warm, and a pillar of strength. Life will never be the same without her and she will be deeply missed. Margo has made her mark on this earth. Her life and example have marked our lives as well. What a privilege it was to know and love her.
