Margaret Liddle

d. June 3, 2009

Margaret Liddle, 82, of Boise, Idaho, and formerly of Pocatello, passed away peacfully on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at a Boise care center with family at her bedside. Margaret was born on September 14, 1926, to Fred and Ethel Robinson in Grace, Idaho, and was the youngest of 11 children. She grew up in the same area on a 480 acre farm, attended school in Grace, graduating from High School in 1944, and later attended Ricks College. She married Harry Liddle on July 23, 1948. They made their home in Pocatello, Idaho where they lived happily for 55 years, until he passed away in 2003. Together, they raised two sons and one daughter. While raising her family, Margaret also worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company for 33 years as a telephone operator and PBX trainer before retiring in 1980. Many of her dearest friends were made during this time; she was a Life Member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Margaret was a devoted wife, mom and grandmother. She was loved and cherished by both her family and dear friends, who all share many fond memories of her caring and generous spirit. She had many interests but most notable was her passion for camping and fishing; an Idaho girl at heart. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Harry, her parents, and 9 of her siblings. She is survived by her three children, son, David Harry Liddle, Boise, Idaho; daughter, Debra A. Smith and son-in-law, Steven D. Smith of Boise; and son, Lonnie Liddle and daughter-in-law Becky Liddle of Pocatello; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Lee Robinson and sister-in-law Aileen Robinson of Longview, Washington. The family would like extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Emerson House at Riverpointe in Boise, Idaho, for the constant, compassionate care given to Margaret during the past 5 years. Their care extended far beyond her physical needs; they truely loved her and appreciated her fiesty nature and quick witt. Margaret felt that love which made Emerson House her final "home". A graveside service will be held on 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, with Pastor John Robinson officiating. There will be a visitation prior to the graveside from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S 4th Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions to the Greater Idaho Alzheimer's Association, 1111 So. Orchard Street, Suite 200, Boise, Idaho 83705, 208-384-1788.
