Linda Carol White Gneiting passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2020 at home.
Linda was born December 2, 1951 to Charles and Grace White in Ft. Worth, Texas. Most of her youth was spent in Ft. Worth. When she was a teenager, they moved to Niceville, Florida. After 4 years they moved back to their old home in Ft. Worth, where she graduated from Paschal High School.
After high school she attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, where she "fell" for her sweetheart, Jay Gneiting. Linda courted and wrote Jay while he served a 2-year mission in Argentina. Linda graduated from Ricks College in May of 1972. Linda and Jay were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on Nov. 9, 1972.
Jay and Linda spent the first 2 years of their marriage on the farm during which time they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Angie. After 2 years of farming they decided to move to San Diego, California. San Diego brought many good memories and 2 sons, Tim and Danny. Linda enjoyed bowling, trips to Tijuana, and long walks on the beach.
After some fun in the sun, they moved the family back to the farm in Idaho. Farm life brought with it hard work and more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors -- elk and deer hunting, horseback riding -- and bowling when they could get away from the farm. In 1982 she had another baby boy, Josh.
After a few winters in Idaho, that California sun called again, and they moved the family back to San Diego. While there, Linda worked for Nassco Shipbuilders as a senior clerk and a materials analyst in the engineering department. Linda was a member of the ABC Bowling Association and made sure to share her love of bowling with all of her children, including another baby, Jacob.
In 1992 the family moved back to Idaho to be closer to family and help with the family farm. Linda kept busy working at Dewey Irrigation, helping Jay and the boys with irrigating, cutting hay, and working cows. They also played hard - hunting and sports with the boys, and she enjoyed bowling on multiple leagues. (Jay says she never let people know that she loved bowling more than he did). Linda spent nearly every Saturday morning with the kids at early morning leagues and bowling tournaments.
Linda loved rainstorms. She wrote in her journal that she "loved going out on the porch with a bowl of popcorn and watching the lightning, the rain and the dark blue sky -- The wind not so much." Linda was a talented artist and was known for her detailed artwork. She painted murals for the community and painted storybook characters on bedroom walls for her kids, and later in life, for her grandkids.
She wished to instill her love of God and family in her children. She loved the time she spent serving in Church with the primary children and in Relief Society. Linda was an example of patience to all by putting up with the antics of her husband, Jay. The kids brought challenges, too young Angie spent a few nights in the hospital with a broken leg, Tim and diabetes, Danny was pretty much perfect, Josh aka French Fry, and surprise baby Jake. She was fun loving, outgoing, gullible, and feisty.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Gneiting; sister, Barbara (Moke) Pollard; brother, Danny (Jan) White; daughter, Angie (Chuck) Hale; and sons, Tim (Seana) Gneiting, Danny (Sara) Gneiting, Josh (Whitney) Gneiting, and Jake Gneiting. She loved her 14 grandkids.
A graveside service for family members will be held on August 14, 2020 at the Springfield Sterling Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or your favorite charity.
