Jeannie Cecelia Caccia Hanson died peacefully Saturday morning at her home from natural causes. Jeannie was born October 31, 1942 in Pocatello, Idaho. She graduated from Pocatello High School and married Jim Newbry in 1960. To this union she had her son Jim Hanson. They lived in Reno and Las Vegas Nevada before moving back to Pocatello. Jim and Jeannie were later divorced.
Jeannie married Bud Hanson in 1969 and to this union Stacie Lee was born. Jeannie and Bud were married for 49 years and resided in both Pocatello and Blackfoot. Jeannie worked for Banks, Credit Unions, Title Companies, Oil Companies and for her parents at Caccia's Bar.
Jeannie spent most weekends in the winter months at the Chariot Races and for many years ponying at the horse races. She will be remembered best as a terrific barrel racer, known to have some of the best and fastest horses in the area. Jeannie was a member of riding groups throughout her life including Choctaw, Silver Sage, Bannock County Rodeo Association, Golden Valley Girls and Senior Pro Rodeo Association. Jeannie was riding her horse Geegee right up to the last few months. Jeannie loved to compete with her many horses including her favorites Fado, Keota, Barry and Geegee. She adored her dogs. She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed weekly mass with her dear friend Aunt Tracy.
Jeannie could be found out moving sprinkler pipe, on the tractor or with her horses most days. Jeannie will be greatly missed by her family and friends and will always be remembered for her grit and tenacious spirit.
Jeannie leaves behind her sister Anita Frasure and her husband Bud; son Jim (Susan) Hanson; daughter Stacie (JD) Stephenson; 7 grandchildren: Ryan (Michelle) Hanson, Theresa (Grant) Walbridge, Mark Hanson (Ashley), ShaNae (Shay) Baron, Zane (Kylee) Stephenson, River Stephenson (Kinsie), Cecelia (Daniel) Buell; 5 great grandchildren: Colt Baron, Cy Baron, Caccia Baron, Nash Buell, Olivia Hanson, Spencer Hanson and one great granddaughter in a few weeks; niece Jina Meyers and nephew Cody Frasure. She was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Joyce Caccia.
Jeannie will be cremated with a private family service at the cemetery. There will be an open house on Saturday, December 22nd from 12 to 4 p.m. at the family home, call Stacie @ 208-680-5751 for more information.
