James Irvin Yearsley

James Irvin Yeasley, 80, of Pocatello, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 following a long battle with heart disease. He was born April 23, 1942, in Pocatello, Idaho, a son of Ralph and Melba Yearsley.  

He attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School. His formative years were in Pocatello until after graduation from high school and one year at Idaho State College.  

On July 6, 1962, he married Marilynn Ware from Lava. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 17, 1979. Jim and Marilynn lived in Pocatello for three years while Jim worked for R.W. Dickman, Texaco Distributor, driving and delivering fuels. Following this time Jim was offered a position as sales representative for Texaco, Inc. This job led them to Boise, Idaho for training and later to Billings, Montana and Helena, Montana for his job. In 1979, Jim moved his family back to Pocatello and secured employment with School District 25 at the Education Center. Jim worked for the District for 23 years and retired in 2002.  

Jim was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints having served as a Home Teacher, Bishop’s Counselor, High Counselor, and many other positions during his years.  

He enjoyed mountain biking, skiing, fly-fishing, camping, and enjoyed just being in the mountains. Jim was always supportive of his family and always enjoyed doing things with them.  

Jim leaves behind his beloved wife, Marilynn; three children, Gay Yearsley, North Dakota; Mark (Tammy) Yearsley, Heyburn, Idaho; and Julie Ann (Patrick) Poole, Pocatello, Idaho; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by brother, Charles Paul Yearsley; Ralph Gary (Arlene) Yearsley, Isobel (Joe) Willes, and his parents.  

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11:00 am at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Rd, Chubbuck, ID. Family and friends may visit with the family on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Wilks Funeral Home and prior to the service on Saturday beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will be in the Lava Hot Springs, Idaho Cemetery.
