Edward Robert "Bob" Dewey

February 28, 1937 — October 10, 2008

POCATELLO - Edward Robert "Bob" Dewey, 71, died of cancer at his home on October 10, 2008 in Pocatello, Idaho.

He was born February 28, 1937 in American Falls, Idaho, son of Edward (Eddy) R. Dewey and Dorothy Hunter Dewey.

In 1959 he married Wynell Evans Horrocks in American Falls, Idaho. They had three children, Lisa Gay Dewey, Edward R "Bob" Dewey, Jr. and Michael John Dewey. Wynell and Bob divorced, although they maintained a strong friendship until her death in March of this year.

Bob graduated from American Falls High School and then Idaho State University Vocational School, earning his Auto Mechanics Certification and Diesel Mechanics Certification. After graduation he worked in Washington as a mechanic for a large construction company.

He then moved his young family to Murray, Utah to work for Abbotts GM Diesel out of Salt Lake City. He returned to Pocatello in 1969 to start D & J Diesel with partner, Al Johnson. Within a few years Bob bought out his partner and continued to build the business, eventually expanding into sales and service of heavy equipment and renaming the company Central Equipment. Building his company on service and integrity, the customer base expanded to a multi-state region. Swift response became a necessity. As a licensed pilot Bob enjoyed flying crew members to various locations and jobsites. He recently sold the business and was looking forward to enjoying his well earned retirement.

Bob traveled the world extensively on hunting and fishing expeditions. He was very proud of his collection of mounted animals. Each trophy mount had a great story behind it, mostly involving good times with friends and family.

Bob's passion was deep-sea fishing. He kept a boat in Westport, Washington.

For the past several years Bob has shared his life with his loving companion, Renae Richardson. Her selfless. tender care during the final months of Bob's fight with cancer is a testament to their bond of devotion, friendship and love.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Eddy and Dorothy, and the mother of his children, Wynell. He is survived by those who loved him, including Renae Richardson of Blackfoot, his treasured granddaughter Angel Wynell Raff, his brother David (Susan) Dewey of Pocatello, daughter Lisa Gay Dewey of Chubbuck, son Edward R."Bob" (Marie) Dewey of Boise, son Michael John Dewey of Pocatello.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, October 14, 2008 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, Idaho. Friends will be received one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
