Beth Eloise Allen Lish, of Pocatello, 91, passed away Aug. 2, 2018 from complications of dementia. She was born April 23, 1927 in Hawkins Basin, Arimo, Idaho to Frances Marion Allen and Mary Isabel Putnam. She was welcomed into the family by 2 sisters and 2 brothers. She was raised in Hawkins Basin on a family farm, went to grade school in a one room school, then to Arimo High School and included a semester at Pocatello High School. Beth lost her mother at the age of 10 In 1947, she met Duane Orgill Lish, (Buck) they were married on December 6 th , 1947. In 1948, Buck and Beth moved to Leslie, Idaho to work a farm with her brother, Ken. In September of that year their first baby girl was born. They named her Patricia Marie. 17 months later a second girl was born; Mary Lou. 2 years later they had a little baby boy, who died after birth; Duane Jr. That summer they moved to Roseville, California while Buck worked for the Pacific Fruit Express. A couple of years later they welcomed a little red-haired girl; Janis Lee and finally got their little boy in 1956, when Craig Frances was born. In 1964, they became re-active in the LDS church and were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. Beth worked at Lamb Weston in American Falls for 8 years and ISU housing for 12. Beth and Buck retired in 1982 and enjoyed traveling. They went south every year for 12 years to Palm Desert. They traveled to Alaska and Europe. Buck passed away in 1996 after two strokes. Beth and Buck enjoyed dancing, visiting with family and friends, kids and grandkids. Beth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings in the church such as Ward Librarian, and counselor in the Young Womens. In 1991, Bethie went on a proselyting mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to San Antonio for a year. She had a wonderful time and met some really good people. She raised her family on Tech Farm Road in South Pocatello, built their dream home in Inkom, moved several times in Pocatello. After 17 years at 1260 Kinghorn, she moved into Cottonwood Cove. She has been in Brookdale Assisted Living (Pocatello)for 14 months. Beth is survived by her children: Pat Slayden (Jack), Janis Oliver, (Dennis) and Craig Lish, (Lisa Butters), all of Pocatello, Delyn Halford of Preston, (son in law). Beth has 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Beth was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Jim and Ken, 2 sisters, Carrie and Twila; husband Buck, son Duane, and daughter Mary Lou who passed away in September of 2017 from Dementia. The family wishes to thank the staff at Brookdale Pocatello for their special and helpful care in her last year. We appreciate the loving care of the staff of Encompass Hospice. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 7 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 11 am at the LDS Chapel, 1700 W. Kinghorn Road Pocatello, ID 83202, with a viewing for one hour prior at the church. Burial following at the Inkom Cemetery.
